This paper deals with a new way for designing external fixators for the treatment of pelvis and acetabulum fractures. These fixators are applied in traumatology for open and unstable fractures. The new design is based on the scientific progress (i.e. shape and weight optimalization based on composite materials, application of smart materials, nanotechnology, low x-ray absorption, antibacterial protection, patient's comfort, reduction in the duration of the surgical treatment, and cost) is introduced.
