The paper deals with a theoretical concept, implementation and some practical results of the evaluation of a system for individual learning of mathematics. It explores the possibilities of improving the education process with the help of programmed learning. It presents the theoretical background: the description of mathematical competences and their identification at post-secondary school, Niemierko?s taxonomy, the programmed learning theory and the structure of the system of education in the eLearning environment. The practical part describes the structure of the system for individual learning Mathematics with Moodle based on the MatLearn module and its graphic representation. A n eLearning course preparing students for the school-leaving exam in mathematics was proposed. Its aim is to increase the level of competences, especially those which have not been mastered yet. In order to construct study activities the programmed learning principles and Niemierko?s taxonomy were used.
