Byla studována možnost adsorpčního využití alterovaných černých uhlí vůči vodným roztokům těžkých kovů a fenolu. Pro sorpci těžkých kovů byl potvrzen jako základní imobilizační mechanismus iontová výměna. Pro sorpci byla prokázána důležitá role nejen karboxylových skupin, ale i dalších funkčních seskupení. Během sorpce fenolu se uplatňují především interakce mezi aromatickými systémy fenolu a uhlí, tzv p-p interakce. Pro praktické adsorpční využití lze doporučit především oxidačně alterované uhlí, které vykazuje výrazné adsorpční kapacity jak vůči těžkým kovům, tak vůči fenolu. Ability of the altered bituminous coals to remove heavy metals and/or phenol from aqueous solutions is evaluated. As for heavy metals, copper (II), cadmium (II) and lead (II) cations were used. In addition to phenol, also cyclohexanol and 2-cyclohexen-1-ol were examined. Based on the investigations performed, cation exchange was confirmed as principal mechanism to immobilize heavy metalic ions on coals. During adsorption of phenol, p-p interactions between p-electrons of phenol and aromatic rings of coal proved to play the important role, however, no distinct correlation between adsorption capacities for phenol and hydrogen aromaticities of the coal was found As a result, for waste water treatment, oxidative altered bituminous coal can be recommended as suitable precursor.
