Many of the properties of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA), such as inertness, light specific weight, biocompatibility, permeability, and ease of preparation into various shape, contribute to its attractiveness for medical applications. Aim of this article is to give a selected review of its applications in areas such as ophthalmology, soft tissues substitutes, otolaryngology, dentristry, orthopaedy, or biotechnology. Mnohé z vlastností poly(2-hydroxyethyl-methakrylátu), jako je inertnost, lehká specifická hmotnost, biokompatibilita, permeabilita a snadná příprava v různém tvaru, přispívají k jeho atraktivitě pro lékařské aplikace. Cílem předkládaného článku je podat vybraný přehled jeho aplikací v oblastech jako je oftalmologie, náhrada měkkých tkání, otolaryngologie, zubní lékařství, ortopedie, nebo biotechnologie.
