Gram quantities of high-quality titanate nanotubes (Ti-NT) were prepared and melt-mixed with polyamide 6 (PA6), which then exhibited a 35% increase in elastic modulus. This increase was considerably higher than in the case of composites with commercial TiO2 nanopowder (14%) or micropowder (9%). Ti-NT with high aspect ratio were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis. Impact of various drying procedures on morphology and structure of Ti-NT was investigated. FESEM and TEM microscopy proved that the best Ti-NT nanopowder with well-dispersed and unbroken single nanotubes resulted from freeze-drying. SAED, HRTEM and PXRD showed that drying procedures did not influence Ti-NT crystalline structure. DSC confirmed that Ti-NT were stable at elevated temperatures, used during melt mixing.
