Byla studována chemická metoda produkce atomárního jodu pro chemický kyslík-jodový laser (COIL) a jeho okamžitou injektáží do supersonické oblasti laseru. Metoda je založena na reakci plynného jodovodíku (deuterovodíku) s atomy fluoru, které vznikají předcházející chemickou reakcí molekulárního fluoru a oxidu dusnatého. Atomární jód byl generován s vysokými výtěžky vztaženými k reakčním plynům, buď k F2 (100%) nebo HI (60%). A chemical method of atomic iodine generation followed by iodine injection into the supersonic nozzle of Chemical Oxygen-Iodine Laser (COIL) was studied experimentally. This method is based on the reaction of gaseous hydrogen iodide (or deuterium iodide) with fluorine atoms formed in a preceding reaction between molecular fluorine and nitrogen oxide. Iodine atoms are generated in specially designed reactors and then injected into the primary gas flow in the COIL cavity. The yield of atomic iodine related to the initial reacting gases either F2 or HI were very high (I/F2 100%, I/HI 60%).
