Byl zjišťován vliv selenu, dodávaného bahnicím a jejich mláďatům po dobu osmi měsíců jako doplněk krmné dávky jednak v organické formě v biomase řas Chlorella, jednak v anorganické formě seleničitanu sodného.V obou případech byla denní dávka selenu 180µg. U organické formy selenu, dodávaného v řasové biomase byl zjištěn pozitivní efekt projevující se vyšší aktivitou GSH-Px v krvi jehňat, vyšším obsahem Se v krevním séru a vyšším obsahem Se v mléku bahnic The effect of supplementation of selenium inorganic and organic forms on the activity of glutathione-peroxidase (GSH-Px) was investigated for eight months in three groups of ewes and in born lambs. Group E1 received daily 180µg Se in sodium selenite, the ewes of the group E2 were administered a supplement of 180µg Se organically bound in the biomass of the alga Chlorella. Control group C was without selenium supplement.
