Houby byly izolovány ze dřeva dubu a buku, nebo z požerků kůrovce Scolytus intricatus na těchto stromech. Všechny houby inhibovaly vice růst kořenů, než stonku. F. solani po krátké stimulaci růstu stonku rostliny zahubilo. G. langdonii snížila růst kořene i stonku na 20 % a pak rostliny zahubila.
