Isomerization of n-butane to isobutane over Pt/HM, Pt/HBEA and Pt/HZSM-5 was compared with that over these acidic zeolites without platinum. Presence of platinum increases the conversion as well as selectivity to isobutane.Pt/HBEA was found to be the best catalyst regarding the activity, selectivity and negligible deactivation. The increased dispersion of Pt clusters increases the activity, but the selectivity decreases and cracking reactions are enhanced.
