Speed of sound and density data for dilute aqueous solutions of all four isomeric butanediols derived from n-butane (butane-1,2-diol, butane-1,3-diol, butane-1,4-diol, butane-2,3-diol) were obtained using the Anton Paar DSA 5000 vibrating-tube densimeter and sound analyzer in the temperature range from (278.15 to 318.15) K and at atmospheric pressure. Standard molar isentropic compressions and standard molar volumes were evaluated from the measured data. Relations between the two standard quantities and molecular structures of the solutes are discussed.
