Práce presentuje výsledky analýzy pohybu volné hladiny kapaliny v míchacích nádobách a přináší nový pohled na dynamiku toků v míchacích nádobách. In this paper we aim to statistical and dynamical analysis of the free liquid surface motions in two stirred vessels and to investigation of occurrence of local macro-swells of the liquid surface near a baffle. The experiments were carried out in standard flatbottomed cylindrical mixing vessels with four radial wall baffles (inner diameter T = 0.29 m and T = 0.50 m, respectively). Water was used as a working liquid. The liquid level height was equal to the tank diameter. Pitched blade turbines (PBT) of diameter D = T/3 with six blades (pitch angle 45o) pumping towards vessel bottom were used for stirring. The impeller off-bottom clearance was C/T = 0.33 in both tanks. The impeller speed, N, was varied from 350 min-1 to 450 min-1 in smaller tank and from 200 min-1 to 400 min-1 in greater one. Corresponding interval of the impeller Reynolds number ReM was 50,000 to 181,500. A rod-shaped conductivity probe was placed at the liquid surface at several locations in a near to the baffle region.
