The paper presents results of experimental studies of action of the electric field on the velocity and stability of the traveling fronts. The studies were performed in a quasi 2-dimensional (Hele-Shaw) cell made of two glass plates separated by a teflon spacer. One of the glass plates was coated with conductive 25 nm indium-thin-oxide (ITO) layer. The electrodes (5 mm wide strips) were made in this coating by etching. In our experiments the reaction begins on the cathode, where a pair of an ascending and descending fronts is formed. Due to the density gradient arising across the reaction fronts as a result of composition changes, the ascending front becomes unstable a forms so called %22fingers%22. An electric field applied across the Hele-Shaw cell will be shown to stabilize ascending fronts when the positive electrode is placed above the front.
