This study deals with the application of reverse osmosis for treatment of groundwater from the vicinity of obsolete pesticides dump site. Groundwater is contaminated mainly by DDT and HCH, high concentration of salts (about 2 g/L) is also presented. Experiments were carried out in batch mode with utilization of laboratory membrane unit LAB M-20 equipped with a plate and frame modul with reverse osmotic membranes RO98pHt. Input volume of the groundwater was 20 L for each experiment. Separation process decreased the concentration of chlorinated pesticides from 631 ?/L in groundwater to 4.0 ?/L in the permeate, which corresponds to 99.4% rejection. The remaining concentrate accounted for only 8% of the original input volume, when one stage of reverse osmosis was used.
