Cu+ is studied both for localised doping as the laser active ion and as a potential refractive index modifier. As the substrate material we used specially designed silicate optical glasses containing zinc that improved permeability of the matrices for slowly moving Cu+ ions. The substrates optionally contained also erbium. The samples were fabricated by the ion-exchange reaction Cu+ %22Na+ using the molten mixture of CuI and ZnCl2 as a diffusion source. Lokalisovaná dotace Cu+ do povrchu speciálně připraqvených silikátových skel je studována z hlediska použití jako potenciálního vlnovodného prvek I jako dopant pro aktivní funkci vlnovodů.
