The individual pieces of information on material flow are usually not in on-line connection in the production process and, moreover, material order systems from the storage to the production are sometimes executed e.g. only by the verbal communication. As a result, malfunctions and delays may occur in the production. The objectives of this study were therefore to i) optimize the material flow in the production by the introduction of the Kanban system and ii) define the assumptions of an effective implementation of this method. The resulting optimization led to the reduction of the operational costs connected to the production material flow and to the decrease of idle time in the production. Nevertheless, the crucial conditions of the successful optimization are the abidance of all principles mentioned in this work and the regular auditing of the Kanban system. Jednotlivé informace o toku materiálu ve výrobě většinou nejsou počítačově on-line propojeny a systémy objednávek materiálu ze skladu do výroby se provádějí u některých firem např. pouze ústní formou. Tím dochází k nepřesnostem a k prodlevám ve výrobě. Cílem této studie bylo proto optimalizovat materiálové toky ve výrobě zavedením systému KANBAN a navrhnout předpoklady pro jeho úspěšné zavedení. Výsledná optimalizace vedla ke snížení provozních nákladů vázaných ve výrobních materiálových tocích a díky včasnému plnění objednávek též ke snížení prostojů ve výrobě. Tyto úspory jsou však podmíněny dodržováním všech v práci uvedených zásad a pravidelným prováděním auditu systému KANBAN.
