dcterms:description
Altogether 35 species of Keroplatidae have been found in the study area (= ca 60 % of the total Czech fauna). The number of species is remarkably high and Podyjí NP thus belongs to the most species-rich and best studied localities in central Europe, with regard to the keroplatid fauna. Both thermophilous and sylvicolous (hygrophilous) species are well represented. The most common species in the area under study are O. nemoralis (recorded at almost all localities) and several species of Macrocera (M. angulata, M. phalerata and M. sigmoides). On the other hand, the most rare species are K. reaumurii, K. tuvensis, M. anglica, M. ancae, M. collarti, P. alpicola and P. oracula, which have in Podyjí NP the only known locality within Moravia or the entire Czech Republic. The rare genera Macrorrhyncha Winnertz, 1846 and Pyratula Edwards, 1929 are particularly well represented in Podyjí NP, comprising all the species hitherto recorded in the Czech Republic (or even central Europe).
