dcterms:description
Organic matter quality is an important parameter affecting heavy metals mobility and their bioavailability for plants. The treatments of the experiment were set up as sewage sludge with addition of materials influencing pH value (limestone, lime) and sorption capacity (bentonite, zeolite). All treatments were incubated 8 months under controlled aerobic and anaerobic conditions. The lack of air during sludge incubation substantially increased cadmium and zinc portions bound in humic acids fraction compare to aerobic conditions. Limestone addition in aerobically and lime in anaerobically incubated sludge had the most significant effect on the increase of Cd portion in humic acids. Zinc was bound more in fulvic acids fraction compare to cadmium. The anaerobic condition increased the portion of both elements in humic acids fraction more than aerobic one.
