The paper deals with possibly contamination of airfield surfaces in winter period including its description, measuring, adhesion measuring and current legislative in reporting. Further on it clarifies possibly means and current experience with contamination removal at national airfields. Gradually it describes general types of de-icing and anti-icing chemical materials with their brief history and development, possibly application and negative impacts. In the end there is described a process of winter maintenance in this paper which should work as a background for optimising of the whole process.
