The paper discusses the monitoring possibilities of operating pressure level of some chosen hydraulic components. The presented method is based on the temperature difference measurement between the inlet and outlet of the component under test. The experiments were performed on the pressure relief valve PVV-25 and the throttle valve 521-VS-Js 15 and they gave promising results with satisfying accuracy. The experiments also proved that the steady-state temperature difference is independent on the actual flow rate through the hydraulic component. Because of ease of use the method seems to be convenient for many applications as an additional and useful alternative to frequently used diagnostic procedures.
