Techniques for forecasting the minimum temperature are mostly empirically based, using collections of statistics over a long period of time for a range of weather situations. The very popular method is McKenzie’s method, which uses the maximum temperature and the dew-point at the time of maximum temperature, together with a set of correction factors for cloud and wind. Correction factors are available for many stations within former Western Europe. Main aim is to adjust the corrections to aerodromes currently used by Czech air force.
