Kompetice fytoplanktonu byla studována v souvislosti s produkcí extracelulárních fosfatáz na úrovni populace a jednotlivých buněk v eutrofní nádrži Římov. Fytoplankton byl uzavřen v permeabilních dialyzačních sáčcích v dvou barelech o různé koncentraci fosforečnanu. Celkové a buněčné fosfatázové aktivity byly měřeny ELF metodou, která umožňuje přímou mikroskopickou detekci místa aktivního enzymu a pomocí analýzy obrazu i její kvantifikaci. Populace řas a sinic produkovaly extracelulární fosfatázy méně často v prostředí se zvýšenou koncentrací fosforečnanu a jejich specifické rychlosti růstu byly vyšší než v prostředí s nižším obsahem fosforečnanu. Phytoplankton species competition related to individual extracellular phosphatase activities was studied in the eutrophic Římov reservoir during an in situ experiment. A natural phytoplankton assemblage was enclosed in permeable dialysis bags inside two containers of different phosphate concentrations. Total and cell-associated phosphatase activities were investigated using the ELF technique that allows for direct microscopic detection and, with image cytometry, enables its quantification. Phytoplankton species produced extracellular phosphatases less often in the phosphate-enriched environment and their specific growth rates were higher than growth rates in the phosphate-depleted environment within those populations that were phosphatase-positive.
