dcterms:description
Activity of the endocrine gland, corpus allatum (CA) and reproduction activity in females of the linden bug P. apterus depends on photoperiod, food intake, and wing morph. In brachypterous females, short-day photoperiod induces a strong inhibition of the CA associated with refractoriness of the neuroendocrine system to food signals and, consequently, diapause. On the other hand, starvation under long-day photoperiod maintains a weak inhibition of the CA that can be easily removed by food intake. In macropterous females, the activity of the CA is reduced and the onset of reproduction is delayed even under long-day photoperiod and food suply. Reciprocal transplantations of the neuroendocrine complex between macropterous and brachypterous females revealed that the suppression of the CA activity in macropterous females results from a weak starvation-like inhibition of the CA associated with a diapause-like refractoriness of the neuroendocrine complex to food signals. Aktivita endokrinní žlázy corpus allatum (CA) a reprodukční aktivita samic ploštice Pyrrhocoris apterus závisí na fotoperiodě, příjmu potravy a křídelní morfě.
