DMOs are considered the most advanced form of organizations involved in tourism development. These organizations play an important role in the management and financing of tourism within the defined territory. Establishment of DMOs in the Czech Republic at the regional and lower level is not defined by any laws or regulations. This situation raises several questions: Do DMOs in the Czech Republic, and by extension, in South Bohemia, really play a role of a destination management, or are they focused only on marketing activities, or on marketing communication? Is the financing of DMOs and tourism development generally sufficient? Does a structure of stakeholders, involved in the DMOs in the Czech Republic, correspond to organizational structures in properly functioning DMOs?
