The ability to identify the occurrence of situation is the main function of context-aware systems. The process identifying of situation is not easy due to the uncertain nature of the processed data from sensors. A major problem in context-aware systems is making sure that computers interpret the sensor data correctly. In this paper, we use the belief function theory to detect a specific situation on the basis of uncertain sensor data. We proposed a procedure for determining the situation occurrence using uncertain sensor data. The procedure consists of two parts: processing of the data from sensors (filtering and integration) and detection of the situation on the basis of the generation of alternative frames of discernment. The case study demonstrates that the proposed procedure is effective and can be used at situation detection.
