dcterms:description
The majority of studies investigating the relationship between anger and cardiovascular reactivity (CVR) to mental stress use post hoc statistical inferences about factors contributing to the inter-individual differences in changes of CV parameters. Herewe present a differential equation model (DEM) for description of individual CVR dynamics. Its core idea consists of two steps: 1) estimate of model parameters describing intensity of cardiovascular reaction to stress exposition (growth) and speed of fa ding of this reaction (decline), and 2) investigation the relationship between anger and CVR dynamics parameters. We have used DEM for description of CVR dynamics of 83 female university students. CVR data were recorded prior to, during and after mild mental stress (arithmetic task). Subjects filled in self-report measures of anger (STAXI) and social desirability (MCSD) immediately before the experimental task. The average DEM fits were 73% for diastolic blood pressure, 75% for heart rate and 81% for sy The majority of studies investigating the relationship between anger and cardiovascular reactivity (CVR) to mental stress use post hoc statistical inferences about factors contributing to the inter-individual differences in changes of CV parameters.
