The article illustrates, that the affinity to death within the Austrian literature is on the one hand connected to Roman Catholicism and its review as an instrument of power, on the other hand it can be traced back to the Austrian myth of innocence claiming, that Austria was Hitler's first victim. Der Beitrag führt aus, dass die Affinität der österreichischen Literatur zum Tode einerseits mit dem Katholizismus und dessen Kritik als Machtmittel zusammenhängt, andererseits auf den Unschuldsmythos Österreichs als erstes Opfer Hitlers zurückzuführen ist.
