The nanoindentation and scratch tests were applied to polystyrene substrates with thin Au layer to examine the influence of different times of Au sputtering and the influence of the Ar plasma treatment and ageing in these composites. Plasma treatment and ageing of PS usually increased the values of hardness and elastic modulus in comparison with the pristine PS.
