dcterms:description
The software implements a complex model of compact bone allowing for the bone tissue microstructure. The tissue is treated as a fluid-saturated deforming dual-porous medium, where dual porosity refers to the system of canaliculi, while the first order porosity to the system of Haversian and Volkmann canals. The specific geometry of the microstructure and solid and fluid material coefficients are required as the input data. The Biot model is considered with scale-dependent permeability in the microstructure. This model is treated by the homogenization procedure. The resulting macroscopic problem describes deformation-induced Darcy flow in the primary porosities, whereas the microflow in the dual porosity is responsible for the fading memory effects. Evaluation of the corresponding convolution integrals is efficiently implemented using synchronous decay approximation and exponential fitting of the convolution kernels. The code allows imposing various boundary and loading conditions as well as general se The software implements a complex model of compact bone allowing for the bone tissue microstructure.
