This paper is devoted to letter-to-sound (LTS) conversion for the German language. The system for automatic LTS conversion is an essential module in speech recognition and text-to-speech (TTS) systems. The LTS rules are generated by the decision tree based method. Although this method usually uses the entropy criterion we proposed and used a new original criterion described in the paper. The both criterions are investigated and their results are compared. Our training lexicon does not contain any alignment information. Therefore, three different automatic alignment methods were used and tested. Systém automatické fonetické transkripce ja základní modul systému syntézy a rozponávání řeči. Fonologická pravidla jsou generována metodou užívající rozhodovací stromy. V článku je popsáné nové kritérium, které neužívá obvyklou entropii. Výsledky použití obou kritérií jsou porovnány. Použitý trénovací slovník neobsahoval žádnou informaci o aligmentu. Proto jsme testovali tři různé metody pro alignment. Chunk-based alignment byl použit namísto obvyklého vztahu znak-hláska.
