The paper deals with induction heating of a non-ferromagnetic, electrically well conductive slab of non-negligible thickness. The electromagnetic field in it is generated by an inductor of any shape. Its continuous mathematical model is given by the Fredholm integral equation of the second kind for the phasor of the eddy current density in the slab (this equation consists of three component equations, each of them having the real and imaginary parts). The non-stationary thermal equation respects the real temperature dependencies of all physical characteristics of the heated material. The task is formulated as a quasi-coupled problem. Its theoretical analysis is supplemented by several illustrative examples demonstrating the possibilities of the suggested algorithm. All computations have been carried out by a single-purpose user program developed and written in C++ by the authors.
