The paper discusses the role of business faculty or other important third level education institute in the regional economy as a center for education, knowledge and research and entrepreneur incubation. Three general university missions are characterized, the example faculty is introduced. The information presented in the paper is result of research and synthesis of accessible literature as well as former empiric work experiences of authors at different universities mostly in Czech Republic. Contributory has been service for Ministry of Education as an external appraiser of ESF projects. Analysis and conclusions have qualitative character and should be preferably applicable for University Schools of Business in Czech Republic and Europe.
