The virulence of 236 Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei isolates collected from four Chinese locations was studied in 2003. The determined virulence frequencies were compared with analogical results of the Czech (Central-European) population from 2002. Both populations significantly differ from each other. In the Chinese population, virulences to resistance genes possessed by seven differential varieties were detected. No virulence to the resistance genes Mlg, Mlp, Mlat and to any used resistance genes of the Mla locus (except Mla8) was found. There were differences also among Chinese sub-populations but all of them exhibited common (?Chinese?) characteristics. Distinction between the Chinese and European isolates and their low complexity (at least until now) does not correspond with the hypothesis of Limpert et al. (2002) about the virulence accumulation of airborne nomadic pathogens in the direction of prevailing winds, i.e. from west to east (%22from Paris to Beijing%22). V r. 2003 byla studována virulence 236 izolátů Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei získaných ze čtyř čínských lokalit. Bylo použito 20 diferenciačních odrůd ječmene. Zjištěné frekvence virulencí byly porovnány s obdobnými výsledky české (středoevropské) populace r. 2002. Obě populace se od sebe významně liší. V čínské populaci byly nalezeny virulence ke genům odolnosti obsaženým v sedmi diferenciačních odrůdách. Nebyla nalezena žádná virulence ke genům odolnosti Mlg, Mlp, Mlat a k žádnému z genů odolnosti, obsažených v Mla lokusu (s výjimkou Mla8). Všechny čtyři studované sub-populace se vyznačovaly společnými (%22čínskými%22) charakteristikami. I mezi těmito sub-populacemi byly zjištěny odlišnosti. Zjištění rozdílnosti čínských izolátů od evropských a jejich nízká komplexnost není (alespoň dosud) v souladu s hypotézou Limperta et al. (2002) o akumulaci virulencí airborne nomadic pathogens ve směru převládajících větrů, tedy ze západu na východ (from Paris to Beijing).
