The aim of the book is to show the reader new knowledge and background in the use of special materials in textiles, as well as the possibilities of their applications. The book is thematically divided into five parts: electrical and electromagnetic properties of textiles, optical properties of textiles, textile nanocomposite functional properties, thermal properties of textiles and physical background of special phenomena in materials. The book texts were prepared by by leading experts from universities in Liberec, Prague, Pilsen and the Academy of Sciences. In the book are so interesting and advanced topics such as: electromagnetic shielding fabric, side emitting polymer optical fibers, using nanoparticles (glass, fly ash) in textile matrices and benefits of their dimensions, ie a lower concentration comparing to microparticles, higher filling volume, and compatibility with the polymer chains. Finally it is discussed a wide range of issues from the special insulating materials (goose feather, aerogels) through techniques of measurement, simulation and prediction of thermal conductivity of materials with hierarchical pore structure, to predict the effect of moisture on thermal conductivity changes.
