Internal structure and properties of compact yarns were analysed. Compact yarn (combed) properties were compared with Uster World Statistics in regard to carded and combed ring spun yarns (woven) to determine the differences as well as quality levels of the yarns. For the internal structure analysis, yarn packing density was determined. We found that compact yarns have much higher packing density values as might be well expected therefore they have more compact yarn structure. This more compact structure leads to much lower hairiness (almost 20% lower) while they have higher tenacity (almost 10% higher in comparison to combed ring spun yarns while 20% higher in comparison to carded ring spun yarns).
