Authors of this paper discuss the influence of various insulating materials on the magnitude of a mechanical force generated by an asymmetrical capacitor connected to high voltage. The basic principle behind the phenomenon is described in the first part of the paper. The next part deals with the properties of various insulating materials used to connect the two high voltage electrodes together, especially with regards to these properties affecting the generated force. These insulating materials are tested in a practical experiment and the results are compared with each other and with the former hypothesis.
