The paper is presenting simulation and methods of using the sophisticated (robust and fuzzy) control theory in the process of designing the control system for nonlinear system of steam superheating. Even if all methods are used on the high pressure steam part control, it is possible to use these methods on the low pressure part and many other nonlinear systems by the same way. The standard structure is based on the cascade structure with two PI (PID) controllers. In the short introduction to the nonlinear model building and a set of corresponding LTI models are presented. The nonlinear model is used mainly to the verification, the LTI model is used to controller design. Some basic formulas and procedures from the sophisticated control theory are presented, too. The paper shows the quality of the sophisticated control algorithms for trend changes on the high pressure steam part. Fuzzy strategy uses a tuning strategy and robust centralized and decentralized control. Finally, the comparison of standard and sophisticated algorithms on a nonlinear model is shown.
