Leakage of toxic gas into the atmosphere boundary layer poses a serious risk to the population and the natural environment. Quantifying the potential impacts is important for assessing the acceptability of risk to existing and planned potentially dangerous facilities and for the planning of various objects in their surroundings. The first step is to calculate the concentration field of gas and the individual risk for various meteorological conditions. Followed by the construction of maps of individual risk near the source. After converting to GIS maps the individual risk can be confronted with the distribution of population in the area and the societal risk can be specified.
