The aim of this study is to determine the energy dissipated during cavitation bubble collapse close to a rigid wall for different bubble radii and distances of the bubble from the wall. Acoustic and optical methods are used to measure and observe the impact of the collapsing bubble on the wall submerged in water. Impact load, the quantity representing the dangerous effect of the total energy of collapse, is determined from the signal provided by the piezoelectric PVDF film glued to the impacted wall and documented with time-resolved photography of the bubble radius.
