The ultrasonic welding of plastics belongs to the most use methods of a plastics joining in present day. The most benefit is an achieving of a strength weld in the relatively short time. The supplied warm in the weld is generated with an inner friction of the macromolecules. The ultrasonic tool boots a high frequency of the oscillation direct on the weld plane. The servo drives enable better scaling of the supplied energy and better control of behaviour of the welding process in the ultrasonic systems. The present article deals with a comparison of the basic characteristic values for the ultrasonic welding of the plastics (weld strength, supplied energy, welding time) for two different drives of the welding machines – servo drive and pneumatic drive. Further will be evaluated the appearance of the weld or better a contact plane of welding part after the contact with the ultrasonic welding tool.
