Modeling pollutant transport in natural environments represents a complex problem; it requires choice of an appropriate media, mathematical models and a time scale. As a suitable pattern of environments with a high content of NOM (soils, sediments), hydrogel forms of humic acids have been used recently. This contribution compares results of simple laboratory diffusion experiments with their computer simulation. This approach enables determination of valuable parameters which describe reaction between humic matrix and a diffusing substance.
