High transmission rates 40Git/s or 100Gbit/s on each channel/wavelength of DWDM/CWDM systems require high performance optical parameters. That is the task to be solved. Such parameters as dispersion, optical loss, and optical return loss must be qualified in advance. The paper describes the 100 Gbit/s upgrade status in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic with future trend overview. The paper presents the tools for network mapping, approach how to find network bottleneck, how to fix the problem, troubleshooting ideas.
