This paper discusses the possibilities of moving object detection and human body recognition in video sequences with statical background. The Mixture of Gaussians algorithm has been used for the purpose of the detection. The essence of this computer vision method consists in the background image modeling and with subsequent detection of such pixels that are varying compared with the created model. The Active Shape Models has been used for the purpose of the recognition human body from separated object.
