Recording of monophasic action potential (MAP) by touch-less optical method is widely used in basic cardiology research. The principle of this recording is an application of voltage-sensitive dye (VSD) to examined tissue where it binds to membranes of cardiac cells. It is necessary to examine recordings from all phases of the experiment to take in consideration possible negative effect of the dye to the heart muscle.
