We generalize the well known Ehresmann prolongation of connections in the following way. Given a projectable classical linear connection on $Y$, we introduce an extension of a connection $\Gamma:Y\to J^1Y$ into an r-th order holonomic connection $Y\to J^rY$. Then we describe all second and third order holonomic extensions of $\Gamma$. We also study symmetrizations of semiholonomic and nonholonomic jets.
