For analysing the dynamic behaviour of SQUEEZE film dampers it is possible to use the Reynolds or Navier Stokes eqs. A new approach to this analysis was discovered at Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Brno. It is based on the application the Navier Stokes eq. whereas using this theory it is possible to separate the motions of liquid and the other race from each other. Previously the model sample of long SQUEEZE film dampers, where a constant pressure distribution along the axis of rotation is assumed, was analysed. The analysis of the dynamic behaviour of short SQUEEZE film dampers, based on Reynolds eq., assumed a zero pressure distribution on surfaces perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
