The paper contributes to the application area of genetic algorithms in optimisation of mechatronic systems. Variable parameters of active auxilliary mass damping system have been optimised based on the root-mean-square level of the system´s transmissibility. Absorber concerns passive non-linear spring and damper and active electromagnetic moving-coil actuator. Numerical experiments have been performed on two different structures. Experimental results and appropriate genetic algoritm´s settings are presented and analysed. Obtained results are promising and encourage further extension of this class of applications.
