Alkali activated aluminosilicates based on fly ash are cheap materials especially suitable for use in temporary structures or for immobilization of toxic waste. Major disadvantage of these binders is their slower setting and hardening compared to Portland cement. Amorphous aluminate type setting accelerator Denka SC-1 was used to reduce the setting time of alkali activated fly ash binder and its influence on mechanical properties and microstructure has been investigated.
