Materials that are currently used for the construction of closing barriers to avoid explosion or fire disaster in mines are not suitable for reasons of poor quality of hardened structure. Alkali activated fly ash appears to be the suitable replacement material for such purposes. The aim is to prepare a quick setting material with relatively low strength for easy demolition of the construction. Investigation of these materials aims not only to increase labour protection but also to affect the economical and ecological aspects related to the barrier's construction.
