The paper summarizes knowledge about potential risks with application of various kinds of aggregates for concrete preparation. Concurrently it accents the role of various conditions in relation to exposition of concretes in outer environment. Study of interaction both within the frame of individual concrete components and between the concrete and specific outer environment has been an integral part of comprehensive analysis of durability. Answers to these questions are the basement for application of various volcanic rocks (rhyolite, andesite and basalt) as aggregates in concretes. Technological approach of concrete preparation is also very important aspect. The paper generalizes the results of case studies solved by authors. It deals with both Portland concretes and asphaltic concretes. Analysis is based on mineralogical, petrographical methods of optical and electron microscopy (including EDX). X-ray methods and wet chemical analyses were also applied. Research methods and application of various roc Článek shrnuje stupeň poznání o potenciálním riziku použití různých typů kameniva pro přípravu betonu. Zvláště akcentuje roli prostředí a podmínek ve vztahu k okolnímu prostředí. Studium interakce mezi dílčími komponentami betonu a mezi betonem a prostředím byly nedílnou součástí komplexní analýzy trvanlivosti betonu. Odpověď na otzky trvanlivosti je základem pro použití vulkanického kameniva (ryolitu, andezitu, bazaltu) jako kameniva pro přípravu betonu. Článek zevšeobecňuje poznatky autorů získané při řešení případových studií analýzy degradovaných betonů. Zabývá se jak portlandskými, tak asfaltovými betony. Analýza je založena na mineralogickém, petrografickém výzkumu za pomoci optické a elektronové mikroskopie, rentgenové analýzy a chemických silikátových analýz.
