In our research, we have used water electrolysis for hydrogen peroxide production, at which hydrogen evolution occurs at the cathode (equation 1) and oxygen at the anode. These gases are released into the solution (and partially dissolved), where the use of a suitable hydrogenation catalyst (e.g. Pd) leads to the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide. In our experiments, accumulation of hydrogen peroxide in dependence on the electrodes was observed and energy consumption of the systém was calculated, including the current efficiencies.
